Hammam, (maquette)

The idea for Hammam  originates from Akram's childhood memories.
In this series she is looking at the placement of women and her different role in the social context of a public bath.

This maquette is an idea for a self-standing hexagon shape architectural painting and represents the interior / exterior of a hammam. Its size is ten times smaller than the actual structure would be and measures 230 mm in height by 430 mm in diameter. The hexagon consists of ten oil paintings on paper. Each painting is 230 mm by 210 mm.
